Where is Dubai?

Where is Dubai Located on the World Map?

View Dubai in a larger map.

Dubai (also known as Dubayy, Dubia or Dubi), one of the seven Emirates that form the United Arab Emirates; is situated along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian Peninsula. Sharing borders with Abu Dhabi in the south, Sharjah in the northeast, and the Sultanate of Oman in the southeast, it is at sea level.

Just 16 m / 52 ft above Mean Sea Level. It is located at 25.2697° N 55.3095° E.

Covering an area of 4,114 Sq. Km. (1,588 Sq. Miles), it has grown significantly beyond its initial 1,500 Sq. Miles due to land reclamation from the sea.

The Palm Island Dubai, and The World Islands (see video below) have significantly added expensive real estate in the form of beach shorefront to Dubai's total land area.

The 4 artificial, reclaimed islands, have been named The Palm Jebel Ali, Palm Jumeirah, Palm Deira & The World group of Islands.

It is the second largest, after Abu Dhabi, among the seven emirates of U.A.E. in terms of total land mass.

Hatta, an exclave belonging to Dubai, is surrounded on three sides by Oman and by the emirates of Ajman (in the west) and Ras Al Khaimah (in the north). The Persian Gulf borders the western coast of the emirate.

Dubai has been ruled by the Al Maktoum dynasty since 1833. The current ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is also the Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates.

The Dubai Creek is a natural 9.5 mile inlet in the Persian Gulf, which divides the city into two parts. The old and the new.

The city's trade developed around the Dubai Creek. The region to the North of the Creek is called Deira, and Bur Dubai is in the south where the new developments have taken place called Jumeirah, that lies along the coast.
