Burj Dubai Mega Fountain for Mega Tower
by Daniel Cheong
(Dubai)
This one is a vertorama, made with two digitally blended shots, manually stitched (including the optical distortion corrections). The tower and background was shot at f/4, I did a series of fountain shots trying different shutter speeds, apertures, ISO, and selected the one that was most suitable, and blended it back on the vertorama. It was quite a tough one to process. I am not very happy with the fountain shots, you have to use the fastest shutter speed possible, hence wide aperture and high ISO, otherwise it looks messy and over exposed (like this one, but that's the best I could get, even after tweaking all possible exposure settings in Adobe Camera Raw). I'll do better next time!

A beautiful photo of the Burj Khalifa Tower shot at night from the base of the tower. An almost 180 degree angle shot.

Burj Dubai Tower - Once Upon a Time in Dubai
First of all, thanks to my flickr friend Abdul Rahman from Qatar (arfromqatar), he was staying at the prestigious Address Hotel facing the Burj Khalifa. We had access to a deserted terrace of the hotel. We stayed there for over 2 hours, no security guards to make our photographer's life miserable!
Vertorama, Digital Blending 4 exposures, fountains shot at f/22 in manual bulb mode - just guessing the right shutter speed (thanks AR for the tip!), I took about twenty exposures and then selected one that was the most suitable to be integrated in the Vertorama.
